Overview
The team of world-renowned experts and consultants in our Coin department bring extensive experience in commercial numismatics to all series of British and World coins, from early medieval to modern. We also hold regular sales of ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins and quarterly auctions of artefacts, selling discoveries from notable hoards discovered in recent years.
Authoritative beautifully photographed catalogue descriptions are a particular feature of our coin auctions, with weights and die-axes of important pieces recorded so that catalogues have lasting value. Our Lot Archive, going back to 1993, is also recognised as an essential resource. Over the years we have offered over 250,000 lots of coins, tokens and historical medals at public auction, including many important private collections, such as the George Holloway Collection of Fine Sovereigns of Elizabeth I in 2021.
