Henry David Keigwin was educated at St Pauls School and at Peterhouse, Cambridge, where he was an Organ Scholar. He took a B.A. in 1905 and an M.A. in 1907, and for six years was Director of Music at Trinity College, Glenalmond. In 1912 he was given an educational appointment in the British South Africa Company at Bulawayo. He obtained leave at the end of 1915 to come home and join the forces, and in the following February was given a commission in the 3rd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He went to the front in June 1916, attached to the 19th Battalion, and was engaged on Special Duties under the Division when he was killed in action on 20 September 1916. He is buried in Bouzincourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
