NOONANS – LOOKING AHEAD AS WE CELEBRATE THE PAST

Nimrod Dix, Christopher Webb and Pierce Noonan – continuity of expertise with augmented service addressing the seismic changes in the art market.

TRADITION MEETS DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A BETTER FUTURE

From the end of April 2022, auctioneers Dix Noonan Webb (DNW) will be shortening its name to NOONANS. You will see a better, brighter website with improved functionality. The full management team and specialists will continue as before

When it comes to departments and specialists, the only change will be the addition of the highly respected expertise of Barnaby Faull, who joins our Banknote department as a much-valued Senior Specialist.

The changes reflect our need to address what deputy chairman Nimrod Dix identifies as a seismic shift in the way business is now transacted, while the continuity of directors, staff and expertise reinforces the fundamental principles on which our success is based.

“When I first founded the business back in 1990 the Internet was barely a thing, customers viewed their lots in person and on sale days the saleroom was packed with eager bidders,” says Nimrod Dix. “Now, more than thirty years later, our audience is spread across the globe and many of our customers interact with us solely via online technology without ever attending a sale. As a result of this seismic shift in the way that much of our business is transacted there has never been a better time for us to strengthen our company’s corporate branding.”

Making the website more attractive and intuitive for users is part of our ongoing attention to standards of service, as are additional features such as this regular newsletter.

Our headquarters will remain at 16 Bolton Street, Mayfair, from where we will continue to advise and serve clients in a wide range of disciplines, from Orders, Decorations and Medals, to Coins, Banknotes, Tokens, Militaria, Detectorist Finds (which now has its own dedicated department), Jewellery and Watches.

Shortening the company name from Dix Noonan Webb to Noonans is part of this modernising strategy, while the management team will continue as before.
“There really wasn’t much to debate when it came to which one of our surnames to run with,” explains Nimrod Dix. “Pierce had the more suitable one of the three of us and was also by far the youngest, so that was an easy decision to make.”

Dix and Webb remain very much part of the picture, says Nimrod: “It did cross our minds when we decided to shorten our company name that some people might see it as a sign that Chris Webb and I were taking early retirement, so now is probably a good time to say that this is definitely not the case. I am still working full time heading up the company’s medal department with no plans to retire any time soon and Chris spends most of his time on the road seeing clients. We are excited for the future and still have a lot to do, so it might be more accurate to say that we are only just getting started!”

Pierce Noonan, Chairman and CEO of Noonans said: “While all of the fundamentals of our business remain unchanged, we hope that the launch of our improved website and new corporate branding will serve to level up the balance between the substance and style of our offering, providing an enhanced experience to the many clients that interact with us exclusively online. Our website has always been full of functionality and with the huge rise in the use of mobile phones to interact with us online the challenge for us was to create a responsive website that works seamlessly across handheld and desktop devices. The step change also provides us with an opportunity to reposition our company for future expansion into other specialist fields.”
