William Langmuir was described as a miller at Seedhills in 1810; subsequently at Thread Street, Paisley, 1812, as a grain dealer, 1813, as a flour factor, Seedhills, 1816 and as a grain merchant at various addresses, 1820-38 [Manville p.154].

Scotland, Paisley (Renfrewshire), W. Langmuir, Paisley Dollar Society, a MEXICO, Charles IIII, 8 Reales, 1805th, Mexico City, obv. countermarked payable by w · langmuir · around bishop holding mitre and flanked by two shields, rev. countermarked paisley dollar society · around 5/3 encircled in wreath, the rev. countermark cancelled with a grille pattern, 26.54g/12h (Manville 77; Hodge 077S-007a, this coin; KM. CC83). Coin and countermarks fair to fine, the reverse mark heavily cancelled, rare £800-£1,000
