John Dawson
John Dawson was born in Derbyshire in 1933. He studied at Clare College, Cambridge before moving to London to set up the family law firm Dawson Cornwell in 1972. He was very happily married for over 50 years to his wife Caroline (nee Bibby), with whom he had two children.
John started this coin collection while still a boy as a joint venture with his father, Roger, who was a keen amateur historian. For its own sake, and especially for the time he spent with his father building it up, John held the collection in great esteem and affection.’
