Place BidCharles I (1625-1649), Truro mint, Halfcrown, ‘1642’, mm. Truro rose on obv., Exeter rose on rev., King, holding marshal’s baton aloft, galloping over arms, rev. scroll-garnished oval shield with lion’s paws at sides and date in cartouche below, 14.58g/11h (Bull 663/28; Besly L28; SCBI Brooker 1014, same dies; N 2534; S 3071). Skilfully pierced and plugged in centre, upper armour on horseman’s leg lightly tooled, a rim knock on obverse at 5 o’clock, otherwise good fine, very rare £1,500-£2,000
