France, Winter Olympic Games, Chamonix, 1924, a bronze Participant’s medal by R. Bénard for the Monnaie de Paris, athlete standing right, holding skates and skis, Alps in background, rev. legend in fourteen lines, edge impressed bronze and cornucopia, 55mm, 68.72g (GV 385.1; cf. DNW 128, 653). A pleasing example, much as struck; in original maroon box of issue; the first Winter Olympic Games medal £6,000-£8,000
