The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Framed Wool Work c.1881-1900. An interesting work (530mm x 570mm), the brown wool ground embellished with two pairs of Colours, Union sprays, regimental insignia, battle honour scrolls, a lion, Zulu shield etc. A scroll at the bottom, ‘Torn Shattered But Unstained’. The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own), 25th Battalion Framed Print Concerning the s.s. Tyndareus 7 February 1917. The coloured print, 660mm x 520mm, names all ranks of those on board. The ship was torpedoed off the coast of South Africa, the CO assembled the battalion on deck and took a roll call. Songs were sung as the prospect of a ‘Birkenhead’ situation loomed.
