Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (Serjeant Patrick Quirk, 45th Regt. No. 1392. 1858.) engraved naming, extremely fine £80-£100

Patrick Quirk was born in the Parish of Rathbride, Kildare, and enlisted into the 45th Foot at Nottingham on 9 June 1838. He served abroad at Gibraltar for 1 year 9 months, at Monte Video for 10 months, and at the Cape of Good Hope for 11 years 7 months, serving at Natal, Fort Napier and Pietermaritzburg. He was present in the Kaffir Wars of 1846-47 and 1850-53 (medal), and was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal with Gratuity. He was discharged at Pietermaritzburg on 18 May 1858, and was still alive in December 1892. Sold with some service details.
