Leslie Whitehouse Price served during the Second World War as a Wireless Operator / Air Gunner with 214 (Federated Malay States) Squadron, flying Wellingtons, and took part in 15 sorties against various targets including Düsseldorf, the German battleship Scharnhorst, Osnabruck, Cologne, and Hannover. He was killed in action when Wellington R1717, piloted by Flight Lieutenant R. H. May, crashed into the sea off the French coast whilst taking part in a raid on Frankfurt on 2-3 September 1941. It is believed they were hit by flak over the target area and managed to make the coast where they crashed into the sea off Dunkirk. All six of the crew were killed.
Price is buried alongside his crew in Dunkirk Town Cemetery. His medals were sent to his father, Frederick Price.
