John Howard was killed in action 17.10.1914. Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Richebourg L’Avoue, France. Sold with extract from the War Diary for the period 8th to 22nd October, 1914.
Charles Edwin Howard was born Brockley, Kent, enlisted Dover, resided West Croydon, Surrey. Formerly 7987 Beds. & Herts. Regiment. Commonwealth War Graves: 2nd Bn. Border Regt., Queen’s Cemetery, Bucquoy, France.
Arthur James Howard, H.M.Submarine “E.20”, sunk in the Sea of Marmara 6.11.1915, only her Commanding Officer and eight men surviving. Commonwealth War Graves: H.M.Submarine “E.20”; 8th February, 1917. Age 24. Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq. Argora Memorial. Commemorated by name, 88 names listed. Son of Mr. & Mrs. C. E. Howard, 124 Foxberry Road, Brockley, London.
Edward Howard was killed in action 22.3.1915, 1st Battalion. Commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. War Diary extract for the 22nd March states: ‘The casualties for this tour of duty in the trenches (48 hours) were 2nd Lt. Pownall and 9 killed, 15 wounded and 4 missing.’
