Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 2nd issue, large letter reverse (Private T. Hughes, 28th Regt. 1852.) engraved naming, fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, edge bruising, nearly very fine £80-100

Thomas Hughes was born at Monaghan, County Monaghan, and was attested for the 28th Foot at Armagh on 27 May 1831, aged 20 years, a butcher by trade. He served overseas in New South Wales for 6 years 8 months, and in the East Indies for 2 years 7 months. He was discharged on 19 May 1852 in consequence of chronic rheumatism and varicose veins.
