Fusilier William Henry Startin was killed in action on 29 April 1943 in the attempt to recapture Sidi Abdallah, during which the 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers lost 23 officers and some 300 men killed, wounded or taken prisoner. He is buried in Oued Zarga War Cemetery, Tunisia.
