George Arnold Ford Kennard was born on 27 April 1915, the son of Sir Coleridge Kennard, 1st Baronet. Educated at Eton, he was commissioned into the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in 1936. He served in the War of 1939-45 with the rank of Temporary Captain, October 1940-August 1944, seeing action in Egypt and Greece. In Greece he was made a prisoner-of-war, and was held for the duration at Oflag 79 at Braunschweig. For his wartime services he was twice mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 13 September 1945 and 14 November 1946). He was promoted to Captain in August 1944 and Major in August 1949. He served in the Malaya conflict and in June 1955 attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and commanded his regiment from 1955 to 1958 when he retired. In 1967 he succeeded his brother as 3rd Baronet. Sold with some copied research.
