Harry Robertson was born in Edinburgh on 17 January 1882. An Engine Fitter by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer 4th Class on 17 June 1903. He was confirmed in that rank in July 1904 when on
Mercury and was promoted to E.R.A. 3rd Class in January 1906 when on Leander; E.R.A. 2nd Class in January 1910 when on Minotaur and E.R.A. 1st Class in January 1915 when on Cockatrice. Served on the patrol boat P.24 based on H.M.S. Attentive at Dover, January - October 1916 for which services he was awarded the D.S.M. Awarded the Royal Navy L.S. & G.C. in February 1918 when on Sandhurst. Pensioned ashore on 25 January 1925.
