These medalets commemorate the visit by the King to Worcester from August 6-8 1788, when the annual Three Choirs meeting, the oldest music festival in the world, triennially rotated between Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford and traditionally held towards the end of August each year, was moved to accomodate him and his wish for his own band to accompany the musicians
