Foreword

The collection of coins in the following 81 lots was formed by a gentleman of Irish descent in the 1970s, working closely with the late Patrick Finn at Spink. He took the opportunity to acquire specimens at a time when interest in Irish coins, propelled by the appearance of the first specialist priced catalogues and subsequent scholarly work by the late Michael Dolley and others, had never been higher. Now the fruits of his collecting years are being offered to a new generation of collectors.
