Walter J. Wright, an Omnibus Conductor of Darenth Camp, Dartford, effected the successful rescue of Rosina Tait on the River Thames at Vauxhall on 10 March 1884, and another on the River Thames at Horsley Down on 1 July 1886, when he rescued Henry Tampling, a schoolboy, aged 9 years, for which he was awarded the R.H.S. Medal in bronze with clasp (Ref. R.H.S. Case Nos. 22,272 and 23, 126).
