Five: Warrant Officer Class 2 A. Whitehead, Royal Artillery, prisoner-of-war of the Japanese, captured at the fall of Singapore

Archibald Whitehead was born in 1912 and enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Stirling on 29 November 1934. He was stationed in Malaya from 4 December 1939 and was taken prisoener by the japanese at the fall of Singapore, 16 February 1942. He remained a captive until 25 October 1945. returning home he continued his service until his discharge on 28 November 1956. Sold with Regular Army Certificate of Service; Buckingham Palace letter for returning P.O.W’s.; Warrant Officers’ warrant dated 13 June 1952; correspondence re. his acceptance into the Civil Service and seven group photographs.
