Ernest Wilce first entered the French theatre of war as a Private in the 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment in early November 1914. His MIC entry further reveals that he was discharged on 7 February 1916, under King’s Regulations (Para. 392, xvi) and was awarded the Silver War Badge.
