Arthur William Egerton Brydges Barrett was appointed Surgeon in the Royal Navy on 25 August 1881, and to the
Cygnet, composite gunboat, in the Mediterranean on 6 January 1883. He took part in the operations at Suakin in 1885 (Medal with clasp), and is believed to have died at Netley Hospital sometime in 1887.
