Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca (Thomas Clarke, 7th Foot) clasp carriage slightly bent, edge bruising and polished, otherwise nearly very fine £1000-1200

Thomas Clarke was born at Lancaster, a shoe maker by trade. He enlisted in March 1810 when aged 19. He served in Portugal and Spain with the 1st Battalion until 24 December 1812, when he was transferred as being ‘invalided’ to the 2nd Battalion. This was as a result of having been disabled by a wound in the right elbow, received at the battle of Salamanca, which led to his discharge to pension at Chelsea Hospital on 6 May 1813. Sold with some research.
