Mechanician 1st Class Edward Frederick Taylor, Royal Navy, died on 29 December 1943, aged 34 years, whilst serving on the destroyer H.M.S. Lewes. The husband of Mavis Taylor of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, he was buried in Simon’s Town (Dido Valley) Cemetery, South Africa. H.M.S. Lewes was formerly the U.S.S. Conway.
