James Wise was born in the Parish of Rotherwick, near Basingstoke, Hampshire, and enlisted for unlimited service into the 82nd Regiment at Uxbridge on 22 March 1806, aged 18. He was discharged at Chatham on 29 July 1828, in consequence of ‘chronic rheumatism and debility, being worn out in the service’. Sold with copy discharge papers.
