Germany, Homecoming of the Auxiliary Cruiser Möwe, 1916, commemorative iron medal by Karl Goetz, 58mm (K. 175). Extemely fine (£40-50)
The medal commemorates on the the most spectualar feats of the war. The Möwe cruised for several days in the Atlanitc in the paths of both British and French vessels, six of which it captured. The most important catch was I million marks in gold bars found on the passenger liner Appan.
