James V (1513-1542), Crown, type III, mm. radiant star on obv., crown on rev., similar, but obv. with open crown and frosted caul, double trefoil stops, rev. trefoil stops, 3.35g/7h (SCBI 35, –; B –; S 5370). A little crimped and with faint hairline striking crack at 2 o’clock, otherwise good very fine, the variety very rare (£1,000-1,200)
