Robert Henry Cooksey was born in Walworth, London, on 1 July 1880 and attested for the Army Service Corps on 11 December 1915. Mobilised on 1 December 1916 he transferred to the Kent Cyclist Battalion on 18 March 1917, ands served with them during the Great War in India. He saw later service during the Third Afghan War on the North West Frontier from 15 May 1919, and was discharged on 31 March 1920. He died in Wiltshire on 8 October 1950.

Sold with the recipient’s two card identity discs; and a Royal West Kent other ranks cap badge and cloth shoulder title.
