South Africa 1834-53 (Chas. Dougherty, 74th Regt.) edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine £200-250

Charles Dougherty was born in Glasgow. A weaver by occupation, he attested for the 74th Regiment in 1840, aged 17 years. He served with the regiment in the Third Kaffir War (1850-53). He was discharged in 1862 because of chronic rheumatism, and was in possession of the South Africa Medal, Army L.S.& G.C. and 5 Good Conduct Badges. Sold with copied service papers and other research.
