Isaac Walter Edmondson, who was born at Hawick, enlisted in the 2nd Dragoons at Dublin in July 1893, aged 18 years, stating previous service in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He was subsequently engaged in South Africa from November 1899 until August 1902, and was transferred to the Army Reserve in the following month.
