Three: Artificer Engineer W. Barnes, Royal Navy

1914-15 Star
(Art. Eng., R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (Art. Eng., R.N.), very fine or better (3) £60-80

William Barnes was commissioned as an Artificer Engineer in September 1914 and joined the battleship H.M.S. Ajax in the following month. Whether he was still serving in the same ship at Jutland requires further research, but he is known to have transferred to Torpedo Boat 20 in May 1918. He was still serving as a Warrant Engineer in the early 1920s.
