Pair: Staff Surgeon A. J. Laurie, Royal Navy, who died in service on 13 June 1913

Augustus John Laurie was born on 27 May 1872 and received his medical training in Edinburgh. He was commissioned Surgeon, Royal Navy, on 15 May 1899, and served in H.M.S. Highflyer from 25 January 1902 to 24 November 1903. Promoted Staff Surgeon, he served in H.M.S. Sphinx from 27 March 1909 to 5 April 1911, during which time he was appointed an Interpreter in Persian. He died of disease on 13 June 1913, whilst still in service.
