Colossus, being the tear-off linen disc of the first shell fired from the starboard gun of 'Q' turret, the first gun of that turret to be fired at Jutland. Forfarshire Constable GIVR Medal. A most rare example 44mm diameter in silvered pewter, the obverse with St. Edward’s crown ‘GIVR’ script cypher, ‘Forfarshire Constable’ around the top rim and ‘No. 242’ at the bottom; the reverse plain. Prior to the formation of the county constabulary in 1840, many Scottish authorities employed constables to Keep the Peace. Presumably worn when on duty to signify his rank.
