A solitaire diamond ring, the cushion-shaped old-cut diamond of 4.32 carats, (unmounted weight), in six claw setting, between pear-cut diamond set shoulders, white precious metal mounted, the shank engraved ‘VAN CLEEF & ARPELS’, ring size R. £26,000-£30,000

The shank has additional French lozenge maker’s mark struck to the outer shank, for Dumont-Bouchard et Cie, and is also stamped with the French dog’s head control mark for platinum, this mark being used from 1912.

The Parisian jewel house Dumont-Bouchard et Cie of 15, rue des Petits-Champs, was awarded the Grand Prix at the Exposition Coloniale in 1931 as a maker for Van Cleef & Arpels.
