A.L.S. by Benedetto Pistrucci to the Master of the Mint addressed “Sir” and datelined “Royal Mint 22 August 1828.” Requests that no alterations be made to his studio until he [Pistrucci] has had the opportunity to express his objections. It also refers to a recent agreement by which his salary was reduced and his hope that he would be allowed to continue his business without interruption. It further mentions that he has received no grant for the painting and cleaning of his house in eleven years, “though it is as may be supposed in a miserable state.” The reverse is annotated by J.C. Herries “Mr. Pistrucci – That his studio may not be altered – I have understood from Mr. Morrison that the alteration complained of was never intended if made, to annoy Mr. Pistrucci, but mainly to afford room for Mr. Merlin the other engineer.” 18.1 x 22.2cm (double). Several folds, clean (£200-300)
