Ghuznee 1839 (Private Stephen Ellis. 16th Lancers) edge contemporarily engraved in sloping capitals, fitted with later widened floreate style suspension, edge plugged at 6 o’clock, contact marks, good fine £460-£500

Stephen Ellis was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, and attested for the 16th Lancers in February 1833 (subsequently entitled to Sutlej Medal for Aliwal, with ‘Sobraon’ clasp). He was tried by Court Martial twice, and discharged, 29 May 1857, having served 24 years and 47 days with the Colours.
