M.C. London Gazette 19 August 1943.
The Recommendation states: ‘Lieutenant Ronald Charles Edwin Cox, Royal Regiment of Artillery. On the 29 April 1943, near Enfidaville, Lieutenant Cox was acting as forward observation officer in support of the attack by an infantry brigade. Throughout the reorganisation and subsequent counter-attack he displayed courage of a very high order. To obtain observation he had to keep in the forefront of the most advanced infantry localities and throughout the day he was subjected to heavy enemy shelling and mortar fire. At times it was intense but in spite of this, and completely regardless of his own safety, he moved about to better his observation. As a result he was in a position to bring down observed fire on the enemy as they were forming up and advancing to counter-attack. By his action, Lieutenant Cox played a big part in the breaking up of this unsuccessful counter-attack.’
