Norwich, Skidmore’s Globe series, Penny, view of the keep of Norwich Castle, bridge over moat in foreground, rev. globe, edge lettered, 25.07g/12h (DH Middlesex 130). Extremely fine with a hint of original colour (£80-100)

A Norman castle built in the early 12th century in the centre of the city; the keep served as Norfolk’s county prison from 1220 until 1887, when the castle was purchased by the city to be utilised as a museum. The bridge shown on the token was replaced in the 1820s
