William Edward Cave was born in and enlisted at Sheffield, Yorkshire. With the Army Cyclist Corps he entered the French theatre of war on 26 October 1915. As an Acting Warrant Officer Class 2 with the 12th / 13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers he was killed in action, France / Flanders, 25 April 1918. He was buried in the Voormezeleele Enclosure No.3 at Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
