Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Belmont, Modder River (1288 Sapp., 8th Rly. Co. R.E) re-impressed naming, possibly official? and repair to suspension; 1914-15 Star (1193 Spr., R.E.); British War and Victory Medals (1193 Spr., R.E.); together with memorial plaque (Fred Francis) generally nearly very fine or better (5) £100-130

Fred Francis was born in Crewe, Cheshire and enlisted in Manchester. He died of wounds in Egypt on 30 July 1915, whilst serving with 1st East Lancashire Field Company, Royal Engineers. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial Gallipoli.
