G.B. Newnes lived in Trevor Street, Seaforth, Liverpool, and went to France with the original contingent of the 18th (2nd Pals) Battalion, Liverpool Regiment on 7 November 1915.

C.T. Bell joined the 2/6th Battalion, Liverpool Regiment on 7 March 1916, being invalided from France on 7 August 1917.
