A large quantity of miscellaneous ephemera, the items all mostly individually researched, including the Commission Document appointing M. C. Strover a Lieutenant in the Royal Corps of Signals, dated 13 November 1945; the Regular Army Certificate of Service Red Book and Soldier’s Service and Pay Book to R. L. Tebby, King’s Royal Rifle Corps (served 1931-54); the Royal Navy parchment Certificate of Service of K. W. Smith; various attributable Naval postcards, letters, portrait photographs, and greeting cards; various attributable Field postcards, (including one sent by Major M. E. Mascall, D.S.O., O.B.E., Royal Artillery), letters, portrait photographs and greeting cards; a run of 19 letters written by Sapper P. C. Shrubb, a National Serviceman in Malaya, to his parents and sister during the Malayan Emergency, all in original envelopes; a copy of the King’s Rifle Corps Chronicle 1901, the front page inscribed by Corporal J. Schofield, 3rd Battalion, K.R.R.C.; a copy of Ships of the Royal Navy, by Francis E. McMurtrie, 1942; various First Day covers of a military or naval theme, including ones signed by Patrick Porteous V.C., Ted Briggs (the last survivor of H.M.S Hood), and officers present at the Battle of the River Plate; an original 1890s County Borough of Burnley Police Form of Application, as issued to Eli Heap, together with the recipient’s Certificates of Character and Discharge from the Coldstream Guards; together with various other Police and Fire Brigade ephemera; various formal portrait photographs of members of the French Army from the late 19th Century; and various United States Navy ephemera including a card of verses from the weekly paper of the battleship U.S.S. Arkansas, and several covers with identification of individual senders; and three covers sent from the battleship U.S.S. Sold together with various miniature medals (including British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal 1914-19, Burma Star, with Pacific clasp; Operational Service Medal 2000, for Afghanistan, with Afghanistan clasp (2); and a Jubilee 1977 Medal); sporting medals; Cap Badges (including a damaged 102 Royal Madras Fusiliers Glengarry Badge, Paddington Rifles, and the Army Service Corps); Buttons (including those to various Police Forces); Rank and unit insignia (including an A.R.P. Badge and whistle, a British Red Cross Society War Worker’s badge, and T.A. lapel badges); riband bars; identity tags (including those to Stoker J. Glen, H.M.S. Bulwark, and Lance-Corporal R.
