Frederick William Ford was a member of the medical profession and was registered as a Licentiate in Medicine and Surgery of the Society of Apothecaries on 2 May 1940. He was commissioned Flying Officer in the Medical Branch of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve on 15 October 1940, and was promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 20 June 1949, and to Squadron Leader on 1 March 1951. He was awarded the Royal Air Force Air Efficiency Award on 30 September 1954 and relinquished his commission on 13 January 1960.

Sold with a pair of Medical Branch collar insignia and an officers peak cap badge.
