An Order of St. John group of three awarded to Major L. Kader, Royal Army Medical Corps (Territorial Army)

The Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Officer‘s (Brother’s) breast badge, silver and enamel, with heraldic beasts in angles; St. John Service Medal, unnamed as issued; Voluntary Medical Service Medal, with two Additional Award Bars (Dr. Leonard Kader) mounted court-style as worn, good very fine (3) £60-£80

Leonard Kader was commissioned Second Lieutenant, Territorial Army Reserve of Officers (for Service in the Army Cadet Force), in the County of London District, on 3 May 1943, and was promoted War Substantive Lieutenant on 4 December 1944. Qualifying as a Doctor on 26 August 1949, he transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps, and was promoted Captain on 7 May 1951, and Major on 18 June 1955. Transferring to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers on 12 January 1960, he relinquished his commission on 9 August 1975.

Retiring to Cheshire, Kader served with the St. John Ambulance Brigade for many years, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of St. John in 1981, being advanced Commander five years later (
London Gazette 14 November 1986). He died in Cheshire on 25 May 2014.
