India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1888 (2213 Pte. D. G. Geere 1st Bn. [sic] Dragoon Guards) extremely fine and rare to regiment £200-£260

Confirmed on the Government Telegraph Department Roll of Military Signallers in the Punjab Division entitled to the “India” medal of 1854 with “Hazara 1888” clasp.

Daniel Diones George Geere was born in the Parish of Storrington, Pulborough, Sussex, and attested for the 3rd Dragoon Guards in London on 24 November 1876. He transferred to the 1st Dragoon Guards as Private No. 2213, on 16 February 1879, and served with the regiment in South Africa from 18 February 1879 to 28 September 1880 (Zulu Medal and clasp 1879). Having passed Classes of Instruction in Electric Telegraph and Military Signalling, he was attached as a signaller with the Government Telegraph Department on the Hazara expedition of 1888 (Medal with clasp). He was discharged at Gosport on 30 January 1889.
