John Hill is confirmed as a Carpenter’s Mate aboard H.M.S. Majestic in the Baltic campaign.

John Henry Hill was appointed Caropenter on 1 January 1900; Chief Carpenter, 1 January 1915; retired as a Commissioned Shipwright in 1920. He served from January 100 at Pembroke; from December 1903 on the cruiser Pioneer; from July 1912 at Wildfire (R.N. Base Sheerness); and from June 1918 in the battleship Canopus.

John Graham Hill was commissioned from the ranks in the early 1920s and was promoted rapidly to Lieutenant-Commander (E) in 1934, and to Commander (E) in 1938, retired 1947. From 19 August 1935 he served aboard the cruiser Grenade off the Palestine coast.
