Pair: Colour-Sergeant Alexander Gould, 92nd Highlanders

Alexander Livingstone Gould was born in Haddington in 1832 and enlisted into the 92nd Highlanders at Edinburgh on 8 January 1850, aged 17 years 9 months. He was promoted to Corporal on 21 September 1853, and then to Sergeant on 10 May 1854. He re-engaged at Gibraltar for a second period of service on 9 January 1858, and was appointed as Colour Sergeant on 1 February 1863. Gould was transferred to the Linlithgow Rifle Volunteers 20 August 1869. He was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal with £15 gratuity in July 1869 and was discharged at Aberdeen on 8 April 1871. He died of heart failure at Polwarth Gardens, Edinburgh on 22 October 1911, aged 80 and his death certificate has his occupation as a night watchman.
