Bert Taplin attested for the Rifle Brigade, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 May 1915. He subsequently transferred to the Labour Corps, and was discharged to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 26 February 1919.

Charles Huntly Redwood served during the Great War with Botha’s Mounted Rifles, and subsequently with the 2nd South African Infantry, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 24 March 1918. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.

Horace George Waterall attested for the Honourable Artillery Corps and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 September 1914. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 8th Battalion, H.A.C., and subsequently served as a Captain in the Royal Flying Corps.
