Denys Drayton was born in July 1923, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 7th Gurkha Rifles in March 1942. He advanced to Lieutenant in October of the same year, and ultimately Acting Captain. After the war he served as Assistant Superintendent with the Federation of Malaya Police, before serving as a Superintendent with the Uganda Police. Drayton served in Gulu, Northern Province, Uganda, near the Sudan border in the later 1950’s. After retirement he was employed as Personnel Manager for Spillers the flour millers.
