Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (Q.M. Sgt. J. W. Branson. C. Of Mil. S. Clks.) suspension claw loose, good very fine £70-£90

James Branson was born in Lichfield, Staffordshire, and attested for the Rifle Brigade at Bow Police Court in April 1874. He advanced to Corporal in December 1876, and to Sergeant in February 1880. Having advanced to Quarter Master Sergeant in November 1885, Branson transferred to the Corps of Military Staff Clerks in April 1886 (Awarded L.S. & G.C. in July 1892). He was discharged, 15 April 1895, having served for 21 years and 1 day.
