Godfrey Brown attested into the Veteran Guard of Canada at Toronto and later joined the Canadian Royal Air Force as a 2nd Class Aircraftman, with whom he undertook aircrew training in late 1944. Following the cessation of hostilities he was involved with Prisoner of War Camps located in Northern Ontario. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant into the Royal Canadian Regiment on 18 July 1951, and qualified for the parachute badge on the completion of the Basic Parachutist's Course on 6 September 1951. He served with the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment in Korea, and was promoted Lieutenant on 26 Mach 1952. He relinquished his commission on 25 August 1953.
